[Tilts her head] But you let that cast a shadow on your actions now. Easier said than done, of course. And yet you’ve made great strides over such a short time. That’s more than enough to inspire hope. So what’s there to be so afraid of?
[He pauses, frowning slightly] I know ‘tis true, but I cannot help myself. Events have become complicated o’er time. People I have met, friendships I have formed, enemies I have made. My weaknesses would seem to lie in the strength of my heart. [Shrugs a bit and forces a small smile]
[Gazes at him] Well, someone just got entirely too deep on me. [Smiles] It’s good that you’re self aware though. Seems like that’s harder for people in our line of work to achieve.
[Gives a small laugh and looks down] Was not always this way, m’lady, I can very well assure thee. Perhaps e’en too long, for my actions only recently have proved to be something worth knowing at heroic. Bit of a fool really, but in learning of my weakness, it has both molded me and terrifies me.
Exactly. We all, as individuals, have different strengths and weaknesses that complement each other. Although… I haven’t entirely worked out what your weakness is just yet. Don’t worry, I’ll get there.
I have them, but I simply wish to not share them. Certainly, they are by no means physical, either. [Shifts a bit and smile fades] But e’eryone must have a weakness I suppose. If we are without, then the good in life would not feel so grand without a pain to compare it to.
[Looks over at him, smiling faintly] As far as I know, everyone is just fine. Steve seems to be settled in, Bruce has fallen off the grid but I keep tabs on him even when others can’t seem to. Barton is on assignment and Tony is…[shrugs] Tony’s Tony.
[Smiles wider and nods] It must still be odd, for the likes of such warriors to gather when we are so different. But, perhaps, ‘tis why we have.
Hmm…[thinks on it a moment, glancing around with a sigh] Mostly it’s been the same old nonsense. Bad guys, fighting, more heroes, so on and so forth. Nothing worth mentioning specifically.
And things in Asgard?
It would seem we lead similar lives. ‘Tis not all that is in Asgard that had concerned me, howe’er. A rather unforgivable being slaying gods in many realms I had to take care of. All is well for now. [Finishes his drink and leans on his arm again against the couch] And the Avengers, they have fared well?
[Picks a peanut out of the snack bowl in front of her and tosses it at him] The files are back in my office but I can get them to you by tomorrow morning.
[Lets it hit his chest and shakes his head, picking it up from his lap and eats it] Fine, but until the morning, we rest, aye? [Leans on his arm propping him off the couch] Alas, what news hast thee to speak of. Certainly in thy time of my absence something intriguing must have happened.
